Troubleshooting Instructions for Virtual Meetings
Troubleshooting Instructions for Virtual Meetings
I can’t access the video:
Please try another browser, such as Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. If you do not have another browser, see if your browser needs to be updated or try another device (phone, computer, or tablet). The video work will not work with certain outdated browser versions. If that does not resolve the issue, please dial in the phone number that was provided.
No one can see me on the video:
First make sure the camera symbol at the bottom of the screen is not red. If the camera symbol is red, you are not casting video. If it is white, you are casting your video. If it is red, on the computer, move your mouse and a toolbar will pop up at the bottom, click on the camera symbol to show your video; or on a tablet or phone, tap the screen and the toolbar will pop up toward the center of the screen, click on the camera symbol to show yourself.
If the camera does not switch from red to white, check your computer/tablet/phone settings to make sure you gave permission for Google to use your camera. Sometimes leaving the meeting and reentering will prompt your computer/tablet/phone to ask for permission again.

My microphone isn’t working:
First make sure you are not muted. If the microphone symbol is red, you are muted. If it is white, you are not muted. If it is red: a) On the computer, move your mouse and a toolbar will pop up at the bottom, click on the microphone symbol to unmute yourself. B) On a tablet or phone, tap the screen and the toolbar will pop up toward the center of the screen, click on the microphone symbol to unmute yourself.
If the microphone does not unmute. Check your computer/tablet/phone settings to make sure you gave permission for Google to use your microphone. Sometimes leaving the meeting and reentering will prompt your computer/tablet/phone to ask for permission again.
If this doesn’t work, you can use your phone for audio. On the toolbar there are three dots on the bottom right of the screen that opens up “More Options”. Click on the three dots. Then, click on “Use a phone for audio.” Either put in your phone number or click “Dial In” and dial the number and pin that is provided. This will connect your video with the audio on your phone.
If you have your computer sound on, we do not recommend calling the main dial in phone number as this will create an echo between your computer and phone. If you do dial in the main number and have your video on, please turn off on the sound on your computer.
I can’t hear the meeting:
Check the sound/volume settings on your computer/tablet/phone. Make sure it is turned on and the volume is not turned down low. If this doesn’t work, check to make sure that you don’t have an external speaker or device that is off or has the sound turned off. If neither of these solutions solve the problem, on the toolbar there are three dots on the bottom right of the screen that opens up “More Options”. Click on the three dots. Then, click on “Use a phone for audio.” Either put in your phone number or click “Dial In” and dial the number and pin that is provided. This will connect your video with the audio on your phone. Additionally, there is an option to “Turn on captions” on the toolbar that will help as well. Please note, captions are not 100% accurate.
